REPORT ON ANTIRAGGING DAY CELEBRATION, ANTIRAGGING COMPETITIONS,
ANTIRAGGING AWARENESS CLASS, AND ANTRAGGING WEEK CELEBRATIONS 2025
In adherence to the guidelines set forth by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National
Medical Commission (NMC), Mercy College of Nursing, Pothi, Kottayam observed Anti-Ragging Day on
August 12th, 2025, followed by antiragging competitions, awareness class and Anti-Ragging Week from
August 12th to August 18th, 2025. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the serious issue of ragging,
foster a culture of respect and empathy, and reinforce the institution's commitment to providing a safe and
inclusive environment for all students. Throughout the week-long celebration, a range of engaging and
informative activities were conducted to promote the anti-ragging message and encourage active participation
from students and faculty.
The week commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony attended by the Director [Sr.Anecia SABS],
Principal [Prof. Dr. Sindhu J Vayalil], Vice Principal [Prof. Lucy Joseph], Dean Student welfare [Sr. Lisa
SABS], Antiragging Nodal officer [Mrs. Vidya R Nair], heads of departments, faculty, and student
representatives. The event included speeches highlighting the importance of a ragging-free campus and
outlining the institution's stringent anti-ragging policies. Students took an oath on prevention and the
prohibition of ragging anywhere in and outside our campus.
Informative posters and banners, downloaded from the UGC website, were prominently displayed across the
campus, including academic buildings and hostel premises. These materials served to educate students about
the legal consequences of ragging and the institutional procedures for reporting incidents. Creative
competitions such as slogan writing, essay writing, logo designing, Quiz and poster making were organized,
allowing students to express their understanding of the anti-ragging theme and showcase their artistic talents.
Interactive sessions and workshops were conducted by faculty members and experts to discuss the ill effects of
ragging, promote healthy senior-junior interactions, and raise awareness about available support systems and
helpline numbers. Short films and documentaries focusing on the dangers of ragging and the importance of a
respectful campus environment were screened for students and faculty.
The Anti-Ragging Day and Week activities witnessed overwhelming participation from students, faculty, and
staff. The Anti-Ragging Day and Week celebration proved to be a success, achieving its objectives of raising
awareness and promoting a positive campus culture. The positive response and active participation from all
stakeholders demonstrate a collective commitment to maintaining a ragging-free environment and ensuring
the well-being of all students. Further efforts will be made to sustain this momentum through continuous
awareness campaigns, effective monitoring mechanisms, and proactive engagement with students to ensure a
ragging-free campus for generations to come
